Marilyn Louise Brace, 82, of Mt. Airy passed away on September 8, 2017. She was the loving wife of the late Robert Brace for 55 years. Born July 15, 1935 in Michigan, she was the devoted daughter of the late Raymond and Wilma Westphal. Marilyn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and aunt. She was a stay-at-home mom, who often had full parental responsibility while her late husband was aboard a submarine in the US Navy, to their 5 boys. She served as the Children's Director of Community Bible Study in Mt. Airy for several years and children always made her smile. She loved dogs and will be remembered for her love and care of any who were lucky enough to find themselves under her roof. She is survived by her boys; Thomas Martin Brace and his wife Diane; Gordon Scott Brace and his wife Kristin; James Eric Brace; and Steven Christopher Brace; Daughter-in-law; Pamela Brace; Brother; Kenneth Westphal and wife Linda; Grandchildren; Jennifer and husband Jason, Phillip and wife Brittany, Matthew, Wyatt, and Dylan; Three Great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, friends, and other relatives. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her son, Bruce Robert Brace and sister, Joan Peters. A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 16th from 1-2 PM at the Chapel Mausoleum at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 9501 Catoctin Mountain Highway, Frederick, MD where a service will begin at 2 PM. Following the service, she will be laid to rest beside her husband in the Garden of Veterans II. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Richmond SPCA Robins-Starr Humane Center, 2519 Hermitage Road, Richmond, VA 23220.
