Obituary
Marguerite Marie Majors Matovich, age 91, of Buckeystown, MD passed away Thursday, February 1st, 2018, at the family farm, Carrollton Manor Overlook, in Buckeystown. She was the beloved wife of Mark Matthew Matovich, originally of Red Lodge, Montana, who predeceased her in 2007. Marguerite was born on November 28, 1928, in Washington, D.C., the daughter of the late Hazel and Milburn Majors. She attended Congress Heights Methodist Church and Anacostia High School where she was a stellar student skipping grades. She loved her high school sorority sisters, Phi Betta Kappa and began her career as a civil servant after graduation. She was first employed at the FBI and soon moved to Air Force Intelligence at Bowling Field. Then on to her favorite, Naval Research Lab, and ultimately retiring from Fort Detrick as an editor of scientific reports. Marguerite loved antiques, auction sales and fashion. She loved cats large and small especially the white tiger and she loved to see the Concord fly over the farm. She raised German Shepherds and Old English Sheepdogs and had great fondness for horses and trail riding. She also loved her grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Melinda Geisbert of Buckeystown, Maureen Olson of Frederick and Mark Matovich Junior of Buckeystown. She was preceded in death by Mark's wife, Anita Matovich. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Philip and Courtney Gosnell of Knoxville, TN, Lauren and JT Olson Smith of Frederick, Jason and Caroline Berno of York, PA, Lindsay and Ben Herbst of NYC, Kristin and Scott Mosher of Arlington, VA, Jack Berno of York, PA, Mark Matovich III of Frederick, MD. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren as well as many loving family members in Virginia, Montana and Pennsylvania. Interment will be a private service at Resthaven. The family is planning to have a spring time renewal of life memorial for a life which goes on eternally in those left behind.
