Margaret (Margie) Rae Flygar Modrak, born December 10, 1941 passed away at home on January 23rd, 2022 at the age of 80. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Richard.
The proud matriarch of a still growing family, she is also survived by three daughters; Sharilyn, Heather and Heidi, seven grandchildren; Brittaney, Sophia, Dylan, Christian, Cassidy, Kayla, and Autumn, and three great-grandchildren, Hakeem, Mecca and Storm.
Margie was born in McKeesport, Pennsylvania and was the second of four children. She graduated from McKeesport high school. Immediately after turning 18, she moved to Washington, DC, Where she met her husband at a local YWCA dance.
Margie and Richard married in 1962 and moved into their first home together in Arlington, VA. She worked as a legal assistant and as an administrative assistant for the City of Rockville Department of Recreation and Parks. She then worked for Telecommunication Technique Corporation before retiring in 2001. Margie continued to work after that as an elementary school educational assistant for several years.
Her love of family extended beyond her own; Margie proudly fostered infants for several years while raising her own daughters. She continued to be a devoted mother and grandmother, and was always an active and supportive figure in her families' lives.
A private service will be held at a later date.
