Obituary
Mrs. Margaret "Peggy" Jean Chaney, 76, of Frederick, passed away on May 7, 2015. She was the loving wife of Edward Chaney. Born in Washington, D.C. on July 27, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Leonard and Ruth Mister. Growing up in Silver Spring, Peggy graduated from Montgomery Blair High School, and went to work at NASA and later at AIIM for 30 years. Peggy was a loving mother and wife and enjoyed reading, traveling, gardening, and most of all, cooking. She took immense pleasure in feeding not only her family, but others as well, her home-baked goodies such as her famous lemon bars. Enjoying cooking so much, Peggy loved teaching her own family the finer arts of her passion by passing down those "secret" homemade recipes. One of her biggest joys was all the blue ribbons she won at the Frederick County Fair for her homemade mustard and pickles. In addition to her husband, Peggy is survived by her children; Ruth Ann Nowakowski and husband Romain of Ashburn, Virginia. Karen L. Schneider and husband Patrick of Charlotte, North Carolina. Edward Chaney, Jr. and wife Dorothy of Hollywood, Maryland, and Mary Dawson and husband Jeffery of Frederick, Maryland. Grandchildren; Katie, Stephanie, and Nicholas Parker. McCauley and Landen Schneider. And Joshua and Elizabeth Dawson. Great-grandchild; Liam. Sister; Mary Lou Hill of California. And numerous loving nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her sister; Patricia Schumann.The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 10th from 1-3 pm at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 14 W Pennsylvania Ave, Walkersville, MD where a memorial service will follow conducted by Pastor Mark Foucart. Inurnment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to ; St. Jude Children's Research Hospital , 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105 or St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 14 W Pennsylvania Ave, Walkersville, MD 21793.
