Lynne A. Markwell's Obituary
Lynne Adelle Follin-Markwell passed away in peace in Frederick, Maryland on November 16, 2022. The daughter of the late Earle Lynn Follin and Joan Coates Lewicke, she grew up in Petersville, later moving to Potomac and graduating from Winston Churchill High School. She was a member of Luther Chapel in Petersville and often spent time with her family, who owned Follin’s Esso and Coates’ Corner for many years. She was married to the late Billy Ray Markwell for 27 years. Lynne and Bill raised their two children, Jason and Julie Markwell in Jefferson, Maryland. An accomplished typist throughout her life, she worked as a medical transcriptionist for many Frederick doctors, and eventually started her own transcription business.
Lynne was a staunch advocate for children with learning disabilities. In her youth she loved horses and riding. Combining her passion for horses with her desire to help children with disabilities, she volunteered with the Frederick County 4H Therapeutic Riding Program. Her advocacy for children with learning disabilities helped shape school system policies for the safe and fair education for many children. Lynne is survived by her mother and step-father, Joan and Victor Lewicke; her children, Jason and Julie Markwell; Four grandchildren, Michael Jones, Christopher Jones, Violet Markwell and Charlotte Markwell; her sisters, Janet Ring, Jane Kuhn, Laura Stein, and Claudia Lewicke; and her brother James Follin. In addition to her husband and father, she was predeceased by her step-mother Betty Follin, and sister Joanne Beardsley.
