Mrs. Lula Blanche Yingling's Obituary
Mrs. Lula Blanche (Clabaugh) Yingling passed away peacefully on March 12, 2023 at Miller’s Grant in Ellicott City. She had resided there since their opening in 2015.
She was born in Thurmont, MD on January 28, 1924, the third of six children whose parents, Ernest Clabaugh and Edith Shriner Clabaugh, were tenant farmers. She married Charles Yingling in 1942. They were successful employees of Acme Markets their entire careers, moving to Reisterstown and eventually to Catonsville, along with their daughter Sherry, to open and manage new stores.
Lula was preceded in death by her siblings and their spouses, Anna Clabaugh, Roy Clabaugh (Gloria Weddle), Grace Wolf (Sidney), Lena Clabaugh and Russell Clabaugh (Ann Ridenour),
and her son-in-law William Walther.
She is survived by her daughter, Sherry Walther; grandchildren Doc Walther (Kathy), Michael Walther (Donna), Tim Walther (Jennifer) and Brenda Hill (Brent). She was blessed with eight great-grandchildren, Kevin Walther, Mitch Walther, Sarah (Tyler Gilpatrick), Mark Walther, Jeremy Hill, Myrah Contento, Anna Marie Walther and Joseph Walther. She was continually blessed by welcoming her great-great-granddaughter Adeline Gilpatrick three years ago.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 30th from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM at the Resthaven Funeral Home & Community Center, 9501 B Catoctin Mountain Hwy. in Frederick, where a memorial service will begin at 12:00 PM on Thursday. Inurnment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lula’s memory may be made to “Gilchrist RCC Buckeye Team” Gilchrist Howard County, 6336 Cedar Ln., Columbia, MD 21044 (gilchristcares.org).
