Linwood Thomas Offutt, Jr., 72, passed away Monday, April 27, 2015 in Frederick due to COPD.Born Nov. 8, 1942 in Dickerson, MD, he was the son of the late Linwood T. Offutt, Sr. and Helen Walter Offutt. The family moved to Rocky Springs Rd. in 1949 and dairy farmed there until 1989. Linwood graduated from Frederick High School in 1960. Following retirement from the family dairy farm, he continued farming crops and beef cattle at farms in Detour, MD and Point of Rocks, MD. Linwood was a member of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church in Frederick and the Frederick County Farm Bureau. He was a lifetime member of the Great Frederick Fair, a 4-H Camp Center Supporter, and a member of the Farm Bureau Discussion Group.Mr. Offutt is survived by three daughters, Angela L. Leach & husband David of Cottage Grove, TN, Belinda S. Barnes & husband Michael of Walkersville and Cassandra F. Offutt, also of Walkersville; seven grandchildren, Benjamin D. Leach, Jacob A. Leach & wife Kimberly, all of Cottage Grove, TN, Kristyn N. Barnes of Baltimore, Michelle A. Barnes of Towson, Jason M. Barnes of Frederick, Lorelai T. Doolittle and Laken W. Doolittle of Walkersville; one great-grandchild, Karsin A. Leach; two sisters, Virginia Miller & husband Terry of Frederick, and Arlene Roderick & husband Francis of Ijamsville; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Offutt of Dry Run, PA and Sharon Offutt of Richlands, NC; his former wife, M. Bernice Miller; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and other relatives. He will also be greatly missed by his special friends, Denise and Dennis Morgan, and the close friends he would meet at "the office" in McDonalds on weekday mornings. He was preceded in death by his former wife, Charlene, and by his three brothers, Franklin, Walter, and Charles Offut.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Friday, May 1st at the Chapel Mausoleum of Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 9501 U.S. Route 15 N in Frederick; the Rev. Stephen Gosnell will be the celebrant. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service.
