Obituary
Mr. Leslie Eugene Beauchamp, 74, of Frederick, passed away on May 30, 2018 at Frederick Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Barbara Beauchamp, his wife of 47 years. Born in Washington, DC, Les was the son of the late Charles Edward Beauchamp and Lola Keyes Cooley, and was raised by the late Woodrow Wilson Cooley after his father's death. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the age of 17, and served aboard the USS Francis Marion during the Cuban Missile Blockade. Les co-owned an HVAC company, Conditioned Air, for many years, and later owned and operated Heat Tech, Inc. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener. He loved everything outdoors, especially songbirds, chickens, cows and his cat. Les also enjoyed playing guitar, and he loved bluegrass music. In addition to his wife Barbara, Les is survived by four daughters, Pamela Wolff & husband Lance, Jennifer Franklin, Shelly Amann & husband Sam, and Leslie Meghan Beauchamp-Mullinix & husband Brian; a sister, Nadine Minchew; a brother, Charles Edward Beauchamp & wife Betty; seven grandchildren, Tony Haase, Kyle Haase, Zack Haase, Kaylee Amann, Sarah Amann, Noah Beauchamp, and Alex Franklin-Mindel; seven great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and other relatives. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Emily Amann, a sister, Anne Marie Cooley, and a brother, Kenneth Gary Cooley. Visitation will take place from 7 - 9 PM on Thurday, June 7th at the Chapel Mausoleum of Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 9501 U.S. Route 15 N in Frederick, where a funeral service will begin at 11 AM on Friday, June 8th. Foot procession will follow the funeral service to the Garden of Prayer at Resthaven for interment with military honors. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family in care of Resthaven to defray cemetery and funeral expenses.
