Leonard Spiker's Obituary
Leonard Spiker, 86, of Frostburg passed away July 29th at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
He was a beloved father, grandfather, and friend.
He was born in Frostburg Maryland on June 24, 1937, to the late James Olin Spiker and Freda Elizabeth Spiker nee Warnick.
Leonard was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn Spiker. His sons David W. Spiker, and Kevin E. Spiker
Survived by daughters, Freda Spiker Collins of Florida. Vicky Rainer (Mark), Of Georgia. Danette “Netta” Spiker Tijani, Greenville Sc., Renee Spiker Pomeroy (Rob) Cumberland, Md. Leonard also raised his, Granddaughter Christina M Spiker-Frederick Md.
Following High School Leonard worked at Prichard’s Hardware in Cumberland, MD. Then went to work at the Kelly Springfield Tire Company in Cumberland Md from, from 1968-1983. In 1983 He relocated to Frederick, MD, Leonard went to Work for the Frederick Post Office, where he later retired. After retiring Leonard realized the retirement life was not for him. He went to work at Walmart where he met good friends, Larry Paulus & Mel Hamburg, He worked at Walmart from 1990-2020.
Leonard always enjoyed a good cup of coffee & good conversation.
Leonard's passing has left a void in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
He was not only a caring father but also a role model, imparting invaluable lessons of love, kindness, and humor to his children.
The joy of Leonard's love for his many grandchildren was boundless, and they cherished him.
Leonard was kind to all who crossed his path. His warm personality brightened the lives of countless friends and family members.
Leonard's favorite place to be was at his home. He was a kind generous neighbor that enjoyed helping in any way possible.
He will be dearly missed by his daughters, Renee Pomeroy and Netta Tijani, and their families, including his son-in-law, Rob Pomeroy, and his granddaughter Christina Spiker and her fiancée Ty Snowden.
Leonard's legacy of love, humor, and kindness will live on in the hearts of his many grandchildren. And great-grandchildren, as well as the many other family members and friends who had the privilege of knowing him.
As we mourn the loss of Leonard Spiker, let us also celebrate the wonderful life he led and the indelible mark he left on the lives of those around him.
A celebration of life service to honor Leonard's life will be held on August 18, 2023, beginning at 3 pm at Resthaven Funeral Home & Crematory Inc, 9501 B Catoctin Mountain Highway, Frederick MD 21701. Family and friends are invited to join in remembering this remarkable man who made the world a brighter place.
Rest in peace, dear Leonard, knowing that your memory will forever be cherished, and your spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved you.
