Kevin Rex West's Obituary
Kevin Rex West, a skilled carpenter and a cherished presence in the lives of his loved ones, passed away on November 30, 2023, at the age of 65. He was born on February 6, 1958, to the late Rex and Melba West. Kevin's passing leaves an indelible void in the hearts of his family and friends.
Kevin is survived by his devoted wife, Nancy West, with whom he shared a beautiful journey of love and companionship. Together, they built a life centered around love and laughter. Kevin's devotion to his family was unwavering, and he leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
He will be deeply missed by his daughter, Ashley West, and son, Christopher West (Jessica). Kevin was a doting grandfather to his six beloved grandchildren, whose lives he enriched with his wisdom and love.
Kevin also leaves behind his brother, Erick West, who shared many unforgettable moments throughout their lives. His father-in-law, William Foster, held a special place in his heart, and Kevin's passing will be felt deeply by him as well.
Kevin was a proud veteran of the United States Army, where he served from November 1981 to November 1984. During his service, he earned several accolades, including the Army Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Expert Field Medical Badge, and the Driver Mechanic Badge. His dedication and commitment to his country were commendable. From the age of 17, Kevin had been a part of the Hyattstown and Urbana Fire Department where he became a valuable member of the community.
Throughout his life, Kevin showcased his remarkable talent as a carpenter. It seemed there was nothing he couldn't create or fix with his hands. His passion for his craft was evident in the exquisite pieces he crafted and the way he transformed spaces into beautiful havens.
A celebration of life to honor Kevin will be on December 28, 2023 beginning at 1pm at the Urbana Fire Station 3602 Urbana Pike, Urbana, MD 21704, allowing friends and family to come together and offer their final goodbyes. The memories shared during this time will celebrate Kevin's life and the numerous lives he touched throughout his journey.
In addition to his parents, Kevin is preceded in death by his sister, Vickie Scrivener. Their reunion in eternity brings comfort amidst the sorrow of their absence.
Kevin Rex West will forever be remembered for his warm heart, incredible talents, and the love he unconditionally poured into the lives of those he held dear. His presence will be deeply missed, but the legacy he leaves behind will be cherished for generations to come.
