Kenneth Lamar Schildt, 82, of Thurmont passed away on December 19, 2017. He was the loving husband of B. Hilda Schildt for 55 years. He was born on October 28, 1935 to the late Ellis and Mary Haines Schildt. Ken was a sportsman while attending Walkersville Schools as both a baseball and soccer player. He retired from Mac Truck after 30 years of service, worked at Shuff's Meat Market partime for 25 years and also worked at the Glade Valley Bakery as a truck driver. He was a member of the following organizations: South Mountain Rod and Gun Club, NRA, American Legion and a beloved member of Harmony Church of the Brethren. In his spare time he was an avid hunter. In addition to his wife he is survived by his siblings; John Schildt and wife Mary Ann, Howard E. Schildt Jr., Darlene Dowery and husband Elwood, and Don Schildt, Sr. and wife Peggy. And numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his brothers; Carroll R. Schildt and Melvin E. Schildt. A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 21st from 6-8 PM at the Historical Chapel at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 9501 Catoctin Mountain Highway, Frederick, then a visitation on Friday, December 22nd from 10-11 AM when a service will begin at 11. Interment will follow in the Garden of Prayer at Resthaven Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Harmony Church of the Brethren,3924 Brethren Church Rd, Myersville, MD 21773.
