Obituary
Mr. Kenneth Lee "Pete" Myers, Jr., 70, of Thurmont, passed away on September 11, 2016 at Glade Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of the late Patricia Myers who passed in March, 2015. Born in Washington County, Virginia, he was the son of the late Kenneth Myers, Sr. and the late Mattie Study, and the stepson of the late Lloyd William Study. Mr. Myers worked hard for many years in manufacturing and foundry work, at F.O. Day Co., Thurmont Shoe Factory (where he met Patricia), and Frederick Iron & Steel, among others. He loved attending Maranatha Community Church of God, fishing in Hunting Creek, and taking long walks with Patricia. Mr. Myers is survived by a daughter, Janet Conrad; six siblings, Debbie Tressler & husband Thomas, William Study, Melvin Study & wife Judy, Robert Study, Diana Sharkey & husband Granger, and Tammy Biggus; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and too many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives to count. He will also be missed by all his friends, including Andy Sewell, Jeff Phipps and his wife, and Felicia Campbell. In addition to his loving wife, Mr. Myers was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Myers. A memorial service will take place at 10:30 AM on Friday, September 16th at the Chapel Mausoleum of Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 9501 U.S. Route 15 N in Frederick. Inurnment will take place in the Garden of Prayer at Resthaven immediately following the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Resthaven Funeral Services.
