Kenneth Lawson's Obituary
Obituary
Kenneth Elwood Lawson, 82, of Ijamsville, Maryland, passed away on January 1, 2018. He was the loving husband of Patricia Ann Lawson for over 61 years. Born July 5, 1935, Ken, as he was called by all his family members and friends, was the son of the late Perry and Gladys Lawson. Ken was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and he was a great friend to many. Ken loved to build things. He was a custom home builder for much of his life, and he built many beautiful custom homes in the Montgomery County area of Maryland. He was an accomplished master craftsman in his later career with the City of Frederick Parks and Recreation Department. His hands built many of Frederick County's public spaces, pavilions, and county office structures. For all his lifetime, even in his later years, one of his fondest passions was caring for his home, especially the outside and yard. Everything he cared for and looked after was just so. Ken grew up in a world of farms and agriculture. He was highly interested all his life in stock car racing, and he was a NASCAR fan. He also loved country music. One of his favorite songs was one that became popular in 1982, Wind Beneath My Wings. That song, Ken said, always expressed how he felt about his beloved wife, Patricia. Ken was a loyal and baptized member of the Monocacy Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. His last words showed his confidence in the resurrection hope that he cherished: "Help me make it to the new system" he asked, referring to God's promise of a resurrection into a peaceful, paradise earth. Pat watched him fall into a deep sleep with a happy smile on his face, and he quietly expired mere hours later. Being predeceased by his brother, Rudy Lawson, his beloved sister, Shirley Weller, and his 16-year-old grandson, Jagger Ezra Lawson; he is survived by his wife, Patricia, and his children: Theresa Halsey and husband Kevin of Brownsboro, Texas; Tamara Lawson of Ellijay, Georgia; Kevin Lawson and wife Gina of Urbana Villages; Kris Lawson of Ijamsville; and Keith Lawson and wife Pam of Titusville, Florida. And there are many wonderful grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and family friends that also survive him. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation and gratitude to the Alzheimer's Association Care Study for their help and compassion. There will be a Memorial service held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, located at 10015 Lewisdale Road, Ijamsville, Maryland 21754 on Saturday, January 13, 2018, at 3:00 p.m., which friends and family members are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Monocacy Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. To sign the online guestbook and leave condolences please visit www.resthaven.us .
