Kenneth Hoover Jr.'s Obituary
Kenneth (Ken) F. Hoover, Jr. of Germantown, Maryland passed away on September 20, 2024. He was born on August 2, 1938 in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania to the late Mae and Kenneth Hoover. Ken graduated from Montgomery High School in Pennsylvania. He served in the United States Navy from 1955 to 1975. Ken met and married his beloved wife Marie in 1960 and while serving in the Navy, he and Marie had three wonderful children. Ken was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Ken is survived by his wife Marie, children Kirk Hoover (Laura), Kelly Swink (Dean), and Kim Blaszczak (Dave); grandchildren Evan Hoover, Zoey Hoover, Libby Hoover, Lindsey Grubbs (JC), Kyle Swink, Lexy Swink, Zack Blaszczak, and Ryan Blaszczak; great-grandchild Parker Grubbs; siblings, Patricia Watson, Dave Hoover, and Connie Hall. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Ken was best known for his big heart. He had too much love to give and would end up taking in countless “stray” children and grandchildren as his own. His love did not end with people he knew; his first job out of retirement was volunteering at Walter Reed Hospital holding sick babies when their parents were unable to be there. Some of his other joys in life included action movies, Jim Beam, a nice cigar, and any salty snack foods one could think of. He took his role as “Popum” very seriously and never missed an event involving his grandchildren. He will be missed beyond words, but his family will carry on his loving, jovial spirit.
