Mrs. Karen Luhn's Obituary
Karen Lee Luhn age 71, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly while visiting her late husband’s grave on Saturday July 6, 2024, in Frederick, MD.
Born on February 6, 1953, in Frederick, MD, the daughter of the late Charles Isma Bryan and Courtney Rebecca Bryan. Karen worked in computer sales, health insurance, and cancer research through Charles River Labs before she retired. After her husband passed away in October, she decided to start working at Weis Markets in Spring Ridge. Karen enjoyed her time there and the support of her team even asking if she could work 6 days a week. Karen loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She would tell you about them every chance she had. She enjoyed, shopping, craft fairs, decorating for the holidays, hosting holiday gatherings, attending carnivals and fairs, going to the beach, feeding the horses and deer in the neighborhood, talking on the phone, listening to classic rock music, watching her favorite tv shows such as Jeopardy and the Young and the Restless. Karen was a “die hard” Dallas Cowboy fan. She loved to talk football and had Dallas Cowboy’s clothing made for her children. Karen loved all dogs especially her most recent Shih Tzu Gizzy, who passed away in February.
Karen is survived by her sister Janet Nichols, her brother Michael Bryan, daughters Heather Lemley and Krystal Fahey (Tom Fahey), her grandchildren Brooke and Logan Lemley; & Jackson Fahey. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Luhn.
The family would like to thank all of Karen’s neighbors and friends for being so supportive, especially during these last few months as she learned to navigate this new life. We would also like to send a special thank you to the team at Weis for welcoming her as she found a purpose again. It was a job she started just to “get out of the house a little” and she absolutely loved working there.
Visitation will be this Saturday, July 13, 2024, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Resthaven Funeral Home 9501 Catoctin Mountain Highway, Frederick, MD 21701.
The service will be this Sunday, July 14, 2024, at 1pm followed by the burial. Funeral Home doors will open at 12pm on Sunday.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for a lovely reception held at Resthaven Funeral Home immediately after the burial.
