A loving father who will be dearly missed.
Joseph Raymond Racek (82), passed away on April 2, 2025 at his home in Ijamsville, MD. He was married to his former wife, Penny Grace Racek, for many years, and father to their beloved children, Penny Josephine Stephens and Joseph Christopher Racek.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of Joseph Stephen Racek and Mary Eleanor Rovnan. He graduated from Catholic high school in Philadelphia, PA. He served in the US Army and was employed as an electrical technician at the Pentagon for many years.
He was a long-time member of St. Mary’s Church in Barnesville, MD. He enjoyed roller skating, fishing, and hunting. He generously supported and sacrificed for his children’s private primary, secondary, and higher education. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, ability to fix anything that needed repair, and desire to continue to learn about science and understanding of the world. He adored many dogs and cats throughout his life.
He is survived by his son, Joseph Christopher Racek (Lisa), daughter, Penny Josephine Stephens (Edward), seven grandchildren, one nephew, and one niece. He was predeceased by his sister Eleanor M. DiSanto.
A memorial service will take place in coming months for family and close friends. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests that donations can be made to a Pro-Life organization of your choice.
