Obituary
Joseph (Joe) C. Boone, 64, of Walkersville, MD passed away Sunday, July 20, 2014 at his home after a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was the husband of Martha Snelson Boone. Born October 27, 1949 in Frederick, MD, he was the son of Margaret Baugher Elliott and the late John M. Boone. Joseph served in the U.S. Army. He retired after 45 years from Central Maryland International Trucks (formerly Grimes Truck Center). He enjoyed hunting with his buddies in West Virginia, playing the slots in Las Vegas and Charles Town, cooking, and he found a new talent after retirement in woodworking and making birdhouses. His greatest woodworking accomplishment was an awesome 10 A½ foot model train. In addition to his loving wife and his mother, Joe is survived by a sister, Kristy Jo Elliott of Frederick, MD and a brother, Mark E. Elliott of Lewistown, MD; stepsons, Richard E. Johnson and wife Ramona of Mobile, AL, and William Arthur Johnson and wife Sherri of Saluda, VA; five step-grandchildren, Lisa Johnson, Ricky Johnson, Belinda Dickson, Anthony Johnson and Dean Johnson; and three step-great-grandchildren, Julian and Gabriel Cooley and Abigail Dickson. He will be remembered by his nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Catherine Tober, and his step-father, Joe C. Elliott. The family wants to acknowledge and thank his extended family and friends for their many calls and visits during his illness. Friends may call on Wednesday, July 23rd from 6 - 8 PM at the Chapel Mausoleum of Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 9501 U.S. route 15 N in Frederick, where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 24th. The Rev. Arthur C. "Pete" Baugher, Sr. will officiate; floral tributes are welcome.
