Obituary
Mr. Jose Alvarado Rivera, 80, of Emmitsburg, passed away peacefully at home on July 5, 2018. He was the husband of Maria Aline Rivera, his wife of 51 years. Born in Michoacan, Mexico, Jose was the son of the late Onecimo and Maria Alvarado Rivera. Mr. Rivera loved the outdoors, gardening, taking care of his chickens and helping out anyone he could. He was particularly well known for his many varieties of hot peppers, and he especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his loving wife, Mr. Rivera is survived by his children, Carlos Rivera & wife Kelly, Fatima Kingsbury & husband Chris, Margarita Rivera, and Rogelio Rivera & wife Maria; ten grandchildren, Emily, Angela, Victoria, Charles, Erika, Allie, Jonah, Gabe, Diego, and Victoria; two great-grandchildren, Ava and Kennedy; eight brothers and sisters, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and other relatives. He was preceded in death by a brother, Pedro. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 9 from 6 - 8 PM at the Chapel Mausoleum of Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 9501 U.S. Route 15 N in Frederick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 10th at St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 9190 Church St, Union Bridge, MD 21791. Interment will take place at Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Floral tributes are welcome, or donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the American Heart Association (www.heart.org).
