Mr. John Owings Warfield, Jr. 82 of Frederick, MD, went home to be with the Lord February 17, 2015, at home, while surrounded by his family. He was a member of the Harmony Church of the Brethren, Myersville, MD.John was born September 8, 1932, in Howard County, MD, the son of the late John O. Sr. and Louise A. Warfield. He grew up on the family farm, and later worked as a local truck driver with Jones Motor Freight in Baltimore; then became an owner/operator while living in Florida. He later leased his truck to Watkins Motor Lines in Florida and when the company opened a terminal in Maryland he transferred back to Maryland where he worked until he retired in 2005. John was preceded in death by his wife Gladys (Hildebrand) Warfield (2010), they were married for 38 years. He is survived by his daughter, Melanie Kaye Magamoll and husband Jim of Ocala, Florida, one sister Ann W. Mullinix and husband Sterling of Hedgesville, WV, and one brother, H. Clark Warfield and wife Cathy of Clarksburg, MD, sister-in-laws Claylene Warfield (wife of the late William Robert Warfield) of Deland, FL, and Sandra Warfield (wife of the late Charles J. Warfield); many nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by three brothers; William Kennard (1934), Charles Joshua (2001) and William Robert (2006) and a great nephew Ryan James Sauer (2006). A special recognition for caregiving by his nephew Jimmy Hildebrand and wife Gladys who assisted his daughter in providing countless hours of care while he was under Hospice care during his battle with Lung Cancer; which made it possible for him to spend his final weeks at home. Also, many thanks to the Hospice personnel for their assistance during this illness. Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday February 22nd and 10-11 a.m. on Monday February 23rd at the Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main Street, Middletown, MD. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. on Monday February 23, 2015, with Pastor Tracy Wiser officiating. Interment will be at the Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 9501 Route 15, Frederick, MD, following the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in John's memory to Animal Control and Pet Adoption, 1823 Rosemont Ave, Frederick, MD 21702.
