John Vincent Key passed away on Saturday, August 20th. He was 96 years old. Born in Libertytown, MD, he was one of ten children born to the late Charles and Martha Key. John is survived by his ten children: Richard Hill (Linda), Donald Hill (Betty), David Key, Alice Key, Bonnie Key (Ed), Judy Owens (David), Deborah Bay (Tom), Jack Stewart (Judee), Francine Shipley, and Nancy Key, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his nine siblings, wife, Mary Alice Key, two daughters, Dorothy and Darlene, and two sons, Larry and Samuel. John was a graduate of Lincoln School, class of 1939. He attended Princess Anne College on Maryland's eastern shore and then served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a loyal employee of Monocacy Farms and Peter Pan Inn in Urbana, MD. He was also an avid member of the Frederick Horseshoe Club. John was a loving husband and a devoted father. By example, he taught his children to be caring, kind, and hardworking. John enjoyed Family Day Sundays, watching Baltimore Orioles' baseball games, and Family Feud. A viewing will be held at the Chapel Mausoleum of Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 9501 U.S. Route 15 N in Frederick at 10 am on Saturday, August 27th, followed by the interment at 11 am. A gathering to celebrate John's life will be held at the Libertytown Fire Hall, 12027 South Street Libertytown, MD 21762 after the services. The family requests in lieu of flowers, charitable donations be made to Daybreak Adult Care Services - 7819 Rocky Springs Road Frederick, MD 21702 or to perform a random act of kindness.
