Mr. John Selman Biehl Jr.'s Obituary
John Selman Biehl, Jr. of Frederick, MD passed away peacefully at home on July 31, 2024. He was surrounded by his loving wife, Mary Jane, family and beloved dog Buddy. He was a loving son of the late John Biehl, Sr. and Pauline Fauble Shelton (stepdad Elmer Shelton). He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
John was a self-made man. At a young age, he provided tirelessly for his family by delivering newspapers, working at Frederick Produce and many other jobs. He later obtained a job at Ausherman Construction, where he developed his passion for carpentry and served for many years. He built his first home at the age of 19 and would also start his own construction business. John enjoyed working on automobiles. He owned an auto repair/body shop where he was able to express his passion for antique cars. John had an interest in owning various retail businesses in Frederick, such as M.J. Jobbers, CB Shop, furniture stores and grocery stores. He expressed his passion for business through ownership of a flea market with his wife. John always knew how to make a dollar out of hard work. He loved being around people, talking to or helping someone in hard times. He had a heart of gold, he was honest, and a straightforward person, that was a rebel until the end.
He leaves to mourn, his caring wife Mary Jane; his children, Susan Stull (Bill), Sherry Stone (John), and Mary Biehl (Rob); his grandchildren, Ashley Stull, Erica Meacham, Austin Stone (Chloe), Katie Mackie, Timmy Flanary, Jr., Sierra Flanary, and Megan Flanary; great-granddaughter Ella McElheny; sisters, Karen Griner, and Shirley Giesler. He was preceded in death by his loving daughter, Carol Biehl; parents John Biehl, Pauline Shelton, and Elmer Shelton; brothers Larry and David Shelton; a dear brother-in-law Doug Morgan; and Cousin Denny Heffner.
Service for John will take place at Resthaven Memorial Gardens on Friday August 9th, 2024, at 11am. Those planning to attend the service are encouraged to dress comfortably and casually.
John's family would like to thank the staff at Johns Hopkins Hospital, the doctors, Hospice of Frederick, who worked with him over the years, and a very special thank you to nurse Lauren.
