Joel Anane's Obituary
Obituary
Joel Anane went home to be with his maker and savior on Wednesday, January 5th 2022 at the age of 72 at Shady Grove Hospital in Rockville, Maryland, USA.
Joel was born in Asante Akyem Agogo, in the Ashanti Region of Ghana to Maame Yaa Kuma and Opanyin Adomako. Joel had his formal education and commercial training at Agogo Methodist School and Collins Commercial respectively, before moving to Kumasi to start a career with Ghana Oil Company (Goil). Joel worked as an accountant with Goil for 15 years before retiring to start his own business in the construction industry where he worked until his relocation to the United States. Joel migrated to the United States in 2017 and lived in Johnson City, Tennessee for the last four years. Joel recently moved to Clarksburg, MD.
Joel was raised in the Methodist Church where he remained a dedicated member until his passing. He was a staunch member of the Bantama Ebenezer Methodist Church and was a dedicated chorister. Based on his professional background, Joel was actively involved in managing the finances of the Church and was one of the pioneers that set up the church’s credit union. Joel loved serving God and fellowshipping with brethren from church. He loved his hymns and enjoyed choral music.
Joel was a beloved husband, dad, grandpa, mentor and friend. He loved and cared deeply and would always pray for the people he interacted with.
Although Joel did not receive tertiary education, he valued education so much so that he ensured all his children received quality education. He always inspired and encouraged other parents to do the same, and would even go out of his way to support individuals needing help navigating the school admission process. He strongly believed that one of the ways to create a positive change is through education and that’s what endeavored to achieve for his biological children and the many other individuals he considered his own. Joel left a legacy and he’ll continue to live through this legacy that changed the trajectory of the lives of many.
Joel was conscientious and a disciplinarian but also had a high sense of humor and always had interesting and funny stories to tell. He enjoyed spending time with his family.
Joel was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife Abena Boatemaa (Agnes Adade) and children: John Osei Anane, Afia Pokuah Anane, Dr. Maame Yaa Yamoah Anane, Abena Tutuwaah Anane and Ama Nyarko Anane, and 16 grandchildren.
A funeral service at Resthaven Funeral Home & Community Center will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, January 29th, 2022. All friends and sympathizers are cordially invited.
