Joanne Kelly Toft, 87, passed from this world on September 3, 2018. Joanie had an unmatched zest for lifea "she was always up for adventure and was the ringleader of our circus. Joanie was married for 67 years to Don Toft, who was the love of her life. She was a loving, fun Mom to Jim, Bob, Kathy, Tom (deceased), Jackie (deceased) and Don. Joanne grew up in Wilmington, DE and graduated from the Ursuline Academy. She and Don raised their family in Morrisville, PA, where she ran with the Morrisville Ambulance Squad and managed the offices of Drs. Wayman and Toreki. She had a blast operating the Balloonatics with daughter Jackie. They had many hilarious adventures in their days delivering balloon bouquets dressed as gorillas and clowns. Joanie and Don were also the gracious proprietors of the Widow's Walk Inn, in Chestertown, MD, which remains a town fixture to this day. Joanne took an old Victorian home and transformed it into a beautiful bed and breakfast where she would often be found working in her lush gardens. No story of Joanne's life would be complete without mention of Stone Harbor, NJ, where she was always her happiest, surrounded by family. From basking in the sun on the beach, to feeding seagulls with kids, then grandkids, to watching the sunset over the bay or having breakfast at Uncle Bill's Pancake House-- Joanie cherished every precious moment on her beloved island. In addition to Don and "the kids", Joanne is survived by Jim's wife, Dawn; Bob's wife, Rachel (who always told Joanie "If I'm half the mother-in-law that you are, I will consider myself a true success."), Kathy's husband, Sam and Don's wife, Terri. Their Nana loved (and spoiled, just a little!) her grandchildren Caitlin (deceased), Chris (and wife Caitlin), Corey (and wife Catherine), Danny (and wife Hope), Matt (deceased), Jessica, Emily, Patrick, Samantha Joanne and great-granddaughter, Lillian. Joanne was very much loved by her brother Neal and wife, Barbara, sister Marie, in-laws Paul, Jerry, Regina and George and many more family members and close friends. Joanne's Celebration of Life will begin October 6, 2018 at 12 PM with a Mass at St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church, 9910 3rd Avenue, Stone Harbor, NJ. Immediately following the Mass, there will be a reception at The Reeds at Shelter Haven, 9601 3rd Avenue, Stone Harbor, NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be given to the Visiting Nurses' Association Hospice of Hanover and Spring Grove, 440 Madison St, Hanover, PA 17331 (vnahanover.org) or the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N.
