Mr. Jitendra Chinubhai Patel's Obituary
Jitendra Chinubhai Patel was born on December 21, 1960 in Gujarat, India to Chinubhai Vaghjibhai Patel & Dhirajben Chinubhai Patel. He obtained his bachelor’s in commerce formally, but his real-life education was in farming & agriculture that he learned from his Dad. He got married at the age 27 to Sharmila Patel and had two kids (Dhara & Ishan). He spent much of his life in India before emigrating to United States in 1999 with his wife and two kids. He spent time in Chicago and Philadelphia before settling in Frederick, Maryland.
Ever since he was young, trouble always seemed to find him, and being the welcoming person he was, he always found a way to entertain it. However, he was a generous and social spirit who would always find a way to help those around him and was always making friends wherever he went. Keeping his car clean and sparkling was his passion along with dancing and handing out chocolates to all the neighborhood kids (here & in India). He was a doting grandparent and had a very special bond with Hope (our Labrador Retriever).
He was diagnosed with Gastroesophageal Cancer in December 2021 and underwent multiple rounds of extensive proton radiation therapy, chemotherapy and immunotherapy for 17 months. He had a will to live which was observed in his fight against cancer. He was relentless in his battle and persevered through intense pain and suffering. He was successful in beating several cancerous tumors but ultimately didn’t have enough fuel left to deal with the damage the tumors left behind. He took his last breath on April 17, 2023, at 9:47 pm surrounded by his loved ones.
Everyone knew him as Jala Kaka (uncle) who was always so full of life. We can say that he lived his life to the fullest and that is how we will remember him forever.
A funeral and cremation service is scheduled for 10:00 am on April 24, 2023 at Resthaven Funeral Home & Cremation in Frederick, Maryland. In lieu of flowers, we are asking that a donation be made to the Esophageal Cancer Action Network at https://ecan.org/give-the-gift-of-hope/ in his behalf.
