Jerald Lee Dove's Obituary
Jerald Lee Dove, born December 9, 1945, passed away on June 28, 2024, in Winchester, VA. He is survived by his loving wife, Josephine Dove; his children, Tina Plymale and her husband Brian, and Tonya Murray and her husband Chris; and his grandchildren, Amber Martin and her husband Shiloh, Brian Plymale Jr., and Stephanie Murray. Jerald also leaves behind his great-grandchildren, Keira, Tristan, Waylon, Emma, and Braden; his siblings, Brenda Spicer, Billy Powers and his wife Jan, and Nita Hayes and her husband Wayne; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Jerald was preceded in death by his mother, Rita Powers; his stepfather, John Powers; his uncle, Donnie Dove, who was more of a father figure to him; and his two beloved Jack Russell Terriers, Rocky I and Rocky II.
Jerald proudly served as a carpenter for the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission for over 26 years. An Army veteran, Jerald was deeply devoted to his country. He found joy in hunting, fishing, carpentry, mushroom hunting, gardening (which he fondly called “Plowing Potatoes”), and spending time with his family. Jerald enjoyed riding the back roads of West Virginia and trap shooting with the Arkansaw Hunting Club. His favorite places included the Potomac River, Deep Creek Lake, and Chincoteague, which held a special place in his heart.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., 9501B Catoctin Mountain Hwy, Frederick, MD 21701, with a funeral service to follow at 1:00 PM. Interment will take place at Resthaven Memorial Garden. The family will host friends and family in the Monocacy Lounge at the funeral home following the interment.
Per Jerald’s wishes, please dress casually and comfortably. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jerald’s honor to the American Alzheimer’s Association.
