Jean Marie Jewell, 65, of Thurmont, formerly of Frederick, passed away on Wednesday, May 9, 2018, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was the loving wife of Reed Jewell. Born November 22, 1952, she was the loving daughter of Herbert Melvin and the late Mary Ager Goodson. Jean was a brave, courageous, and loving woman who took crap from no one. She constantly thought of others before herself and who loved her family more than anything. One of her greatest joys in life was playing Bingo and she was a diehard Redskins fan. In addition to her husband and her father, she is survived by her son George Cook. Daughters; Dawn Raab and husband Greg, and Nikki Jewell. Grandchildren; Ashley Wetzel, Amanda Wetzel, Joey Shugars, Dylan Raab, and Amber Shugars. Sisters; Joanne Melvin, Joyce Treadway, Candee Melvin, and Vickie England. Brothers; Jody Melvin and Michael Midkiff. And many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 17th from 1-3 PM and 6-8 PM at the Historical Chapel at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 9501 Catoctin Mountain Highway, Frederick, MD where a service will be held on Friday, May 18th at 11 AM. Interment to follow. In lieu of flowers donations in Jean's name can be made to the American Cancer Society at https://www.cancer.org/cancer/gallbladder-cancer.html.
