Janie Louise Cook Waldon (Cookie), 88, of Frederick went home to be with the Lord on Fri., Feb. 27, 2015, at Frederick Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Frederick on June 26, 1926, to the late James Washington and Margaret Cook and was the widow of the late Ambrose Waldon.She graduated from Lincoln High School and worked as a crossing guard, housekeeper at the Rose Motel, and then an entrepreneur operating a daycare business for many children in the Frederick area until she retired in 1990.Mrs. Waldon was a longtime member of First Missionary Baptist Church where in her early years she served as a deaconess, treasurer, trustee, and building fund committee member. She was a former member of Hope Chapter Eastern Stars. Mrs. Waldon was a kind, loving, giving women of God who was full of wisdom and richly blessed every and anyone that she came in contact with. She was an avid bingo player, enjoyed watching her soap operas, westerns, the Baltimore Orioles and spending time with her family and friends.She leaves to cherish her memory 4 daughters, Deborah Fredericks (George Sr.) of Walkersville, Gail Graham, Sonia Bell, and Zelda Tribit (Aaron Jr.), all of Frederick; 12 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; 16 great great grandchildren; a number of cousins and neighbors; and close friends, Eleanor Davis, Iantha Weedon, Clara Butler, and Mary Lee. She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Kenton Fredericks and George Fredericks, Jr.Funeral services will be held Sat., March 7, 2015, at Jackson Chapel UMC, 5609 Ballenger Creek Pike, Frederick, MD, with a public viewing at 9 a.m., family hour at 10 a.m., and funeral at 11 a.m. Elder Roy Ambush, a close family friend, is officiating. Interment will be at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
