Janice Virginia Willis' Obituary
Janice “Jenny” Virginia Willis (Harne), age 88, of Thurmont MD, passed away peacefully in her home on December 9th, 2024, encircled by the love of her family, as she embarked on her eternal journey to join the Lord. She was born June 1st, 1936 in Thurmont, MD to Lawrence “Scrapper” Gale and Irene Virginia (Miller) Harne. She lived a life of love for Christ and for her family.
A 1954 graduate of Thurmont High School, she worked for her father as the Secretary at Harne’s Income Tax, and was a dedicated team member at Thurmont Shoe Company for many years. She was a devoted mother and she treasured every moment spent at home with her cherished sons, her boys, Guy W. Dayhoff, Sr., and Tyrone Dayhoff.
Jenny and her husband of 48 years, Charles “David” Willis Sr., built a life of love and light at their home in Thurmont, MD. Jenny enjoyed the beach, sunshine, and piña coladas. She loved the color red, flamingos, music by Dolly Parton and Elvis Presley, and dancing and singing her favorite songs like “I’m an Old Cowgirl (From the Rio Grande). Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
Jenny is survived by her beloved husband Charles “David” Willis Sr.; sons Guy Dayhoff Sr., Tyrone (Dana) Dayhoff; step son Charles “David” Willis Jr.; sister Doris Bare; grandchildren Justin (Meredith) Dayhoff, Guy (Paige) Dayhoff Jr., Jordan Willis, and Blair Willis; two great grandchildren Annie and Audrey Dayhoff; and a large amount of nieces and nephews including Estella (Rick) Motley. She was preceded in death by her parents Lawrence and Irene Harne, brothers Billy and Bobby Harne, and sister Leota “Odie” Koontz.
The family will receive friends from 4:00pm-7:00pm on Tuesday December 17th at Resthaven Funeral Home, 9501 Catoctin Mountain Highway, Frederick, MD 21701 with Rev. Joshua Motley officiating. A wake will be held Wednesday December 18th from 11:00am-12:00pm. The service will be held from 12:00pm-1:00pm. Flowers and condolences can be sent via https://www.resthaven.us.
