Janice Elaine Johnson's Obituary
Janice Elaine Johnson, known as Jan to those close to her, departed this earth to be with our Heavenly Father on September 27, 2025. Born on June 26, 1950 to the late Cameron Parsons and Helen Parsons (nee Gearhart) in Altoona, Pennsylvania, Janice lived a kind and loving life dedicated to her family and friends.
Janice grew up in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania where she met her husband of 54 years, Robert Johnson, as a young man stationed in the area through the US Army who passed away in October of 2023. They lived in Germany, Virginia and Aberdeen, Maryland before eventually coming to the Walkersville/Frederick area in 1985.
Janice is survived by her three devoted children, Robert Johnson Jr., Jeremy Johnson and Amy Johnson and her beautiful grandchildren: Malathi, Blake, Ryan, Cameron, Sarah and Mason. She also leaves behind her loving sister, Linda Kauffman. Her loved ones will cherish all of the special moments they shared with her and remember a fun, nurturing, God fearing woman who shared the love of our Savior, Jesus Christ, as much as she could.
Janice worked with the elderly all of her life. Starting out as a certified nursing aide, then to medicine aide, to administrative aide and finally retiring in 2007 as a licensed practical nurse at a senior living facility. It was a career she took pride in and valued the opportunity to care for and nurture the vulnerable among us.
She enjoyed her Sundays at her church receiving the Lord’s Word and served on the prayer team at Frederick Christian Fellowship a number of years before becoming ill. Janice was blessed with her personal relationship with Jesus Christ and spent her mornings in fellowship with Him along with her many devotionals.
She loved to spend time with her family and cats (Ruby and Gracie), traveling and sight-seeing with her husband, hiking and picnics with her family, reading mystery books, watching detective shows, sipping hot black tea and munching on her favorite snacks, Little Debbie Oatmeal Pies and her party-pack of peanut butter M&Ms.
A private graveside service will be held on October 2, 2025 at 11:00am at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 9501 Catoctin Mountain Highway, Frederick, Maryland 21701 where her life will be celebrated.
Janice will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother. Her faithfulness, loyalty, generosity and affection will continue to live on through all those whose lives she touched. May she experience unending joy and everlasting peace in the arms of our Loving Father in Heaven.
