James Matthew Wolfe's Obituary
Jim, 69, passed away peacefully in Frederick, MD due to complications from Parkinson’s Disease, which he had been battling for 29 years. He was born in Jackson, MO and was the youngest child of Marvin and Dolores (Kiely) Wolfe. He was predeceased by his parents and his two older siblings, Katherine and Patricia.
At an early age, Jim was interested in playing the drums and started taking lessons in a Kansas City elementary school. The family moved to Maryland in 1970 where Jim played in the Rockville High School Marching, pep, stage bands, and pit orchestra for theater productions. He taught others to play in a drum corp. In the mid-70’s he joined a rock & roll cover band named Hard Cider Band that played everywhere in the Washington, DC area, and traveled for nightclub gigs all across the United States. He was an avid motorcyclist and was also interested in autocross and NASCAR racing.
He was a General Manager for restaurant operations for Marriott Corp, and later an Accounting Comptroller for several companies. Jim lived in several places in Montgomery County, finally settling at Lake Linganore in the New Market area. He became interested in the paranormal and started a business named Spirit Paranormal Investigative Service (SPIS) that documented paranormal experiences and unusual events. Jim enjoyed the outdoors including hiking and camping, and he treasured his dogs as his longtime companions and family.
Parkinson’s gradually stole from Jim his ability to play drums, then his manual dexterity, eventually his mobility, and finally his life.
Jim did not want a viewing or formal funeral, and never expressed an interest in asking for donations, but if you feel so moved, a donation in his honor to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research (https://www.michaeljfox.org/), or the charity of your choice, would be appropriate.
