Mr. James Edward Schad's Obituary
Mr. James Edward Schad, 83, of Adamstown passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on March 23, 2023. He was the loving husband of Norma Schad, his wife of nearly 62 years.
Born January 14, 1940 in Johnstown, PA, James was the son of the late George N. and Rose (Dopirak) Schad. Mr. Schad worked as a cartographer for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, retiring in 1996.
In addition to his loving wife Norma, Mr. Schad is survived by two children, James Schad II and Jeanette Linton & husband Dan; his twin sister Janet Olson & husband Leonard of Couer d’Alene, ID, brother Donald Schad of Johnstown, PA; six grandchildren, James, Alicia, Paul, Thomas, Nathan and Elizabeth; three great-grandchildren, Jacob, Logan and Kaia; and two sisters-in-law, Joan Wyrwa and Joyce Nichols. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Christopher George Schad and a sister-in-law, Viona Stull.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 27th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Resthaven Funeral Home& Community Center, 9501 B Catoctin Mountain Hwy. in Frederick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 28th at St. Joseph-on-Carrollton Manor Catholic Church. 5843 Manor Woods Rd., Frederick, MD 21703. Procession and interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Frederick. Floral tributes are welcome, or in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph-on-Carrollton Manor or to Food For The Poor (foodforthepoor.org).
