James Patrick Mahoney Robinson, 88, of Thurmont, Philadelphia, Bronx, NY, Boothbay Harbor Maine, Rockville MD, and Washington, DC passed away from complications of COVID-19 August 6,. 2022.
He was a resident of Sunrise Frederick.
He was the only child of Chauncey Crawford Robinson and Florabel Mohoney Robinson, born May 24, 1934 in Washington DC.
He was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Frances (Boland) Robinson in 2011. He is survived by his 3 children, Laura Robinson (Michael Goldsmith), Barry Robinson (Pamella), and Bryan Robinson (Kathy); his grandchildren, Shaun Robinson, Brandon Robinson, Shannon Robinson, James Marsden, Benjamin Goldsmith, and Bailey Duncan; his great grandchildren, Brandon, Elliott, James, Sophie, Tegan, Sawyer, Nikea, Beau, Evan, and Sophie. He is also fondly remembered by his companion of 11 years, Patricia Tierney of Philadelphia.
James was a proud member of the US Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict. He was also a member of the Metropolitan Police Force Washington DC. He was retired from the police force at a young age due to injuries sustained during the Washington DC riots in the late 1960s. While becoming a stay-at-home dad, he was able to achieve his BFA at Towson University.
James and Frances were restless souls, as they would pick up the family and travel on a whim. Owning residences in Maine, New York, and Maryland in their retirement years, their children rarely knew where they were when they called.
Services will be held Friday, August 12 at Resthaven Funeral Home, 9501 Catoctin Mtn Hwy (US 15 N) Frederick, MD at 12 noon.
