James "Jim" Logan Miles, Sr, of Gaithersburg, Maryland, passed away March 8, 2018 at George Washington Hospital in Washington, DC. He was born on October 17, 1938 to the parents of Elmer Pete and Eula Mae Miles, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He is married to his surviving wife of 59 years, Carol Joan Miles. Jim is survived by his son, James, Jr., daughters Terri Ann Miles and Kimberley Marie Thornton. He was a loving grandfather to seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Jim was an extraordinary father, husband and veteran, serving 4 years in the US Navy and 32 years as a Montgomery County career firefighter. He was active within his community as a board member of the Walnut Hill Homeowners Association. A man of many skills and talents who tirelessly never hesitated to help anyone in need. He will be greatly missed. A private family service was held on Wednesday, March 14, 2018. The family wishes to extend their gratitude for the loving care and support of the George Washington ICU staff, Retired Firefighters Proud Old Timers Group and Walnut Hill neighbors.
