Obituary
Mr. Henry R. Powers, 82, of Fayetteville, PA, passed away peacefully at home on May 28, 2017. He was the loving husband of Lynn Powers, his wife of 42 years. Born in Washington, DC, Henry was the son of the late Jack H. and Kathryn Mary Powers. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in the District and served in the U.S. Army in the 1950's. Henry worked as a meat cutter in Safeway grocery stores for 41 years, mostly in Bethesda and Wheaton. He enjoyed bowling, softball, golf, gardening and doing lawn work with his tractor. Henry was a loving husband and father, and will be deeply missed. In addition to his loving wife, Henry is survived by two daughters, Laura Lane-Unsworth & husband MAJ Jeffrey Unsworth, and Julie Powers; a brother, James Powers & wife Frances; sisters, Mary Kathryn Pilon and Virginia Cooper; brother-in-law Bob O'Donnell; sisters-in-law Lil Powers and Lan Powers; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his siblings Jean O'Donnell, John Powers, Helen Ann McGuire, and Larry Powers; and his brothers-in-law, Roger Pilon, Ed Cooper, and Hugh McGuire. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 9th from 12:00 - 1:00 PM in the Chapel Mausoleum of Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 9501 U.S. Route 15 N in Frederick, where a funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM. Entombment will follow the service in the Chapel Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, 5051 Letterkenny Rd W, Chambersburg, PA 17201 (cvas-pets.org) or SpiriTrust Lutheran Hospice (spiritrustlutheran.org).
