Mr. Henry Lechner, 82, of Frederick, passed away peacefully at home on April 29th after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of Roswitha Lechner, his wife of 50 years. Born in Reutte, Tyrol, Austria on April 17, 1936, Henry was the son of the late Albert Hornstein and Hilda Lechner. He moved to the United States in the 1960's and began his automotive career at the Volkswagen dealership in Rockville. His outgoing personal nature and automotive expertise eventually brought him to Shockley Volkswagen in Frederick where he worked as sales manager for decades. He was also a passionate golfer. In addition to his loving wife, Mr. Lechner is survived by two sons, Albert Lechner and Stephan Lechner & wife Jamie; a sister, Lotte Fuchs; and four grandchildren, Noah, Nicholas, Jack and Kelsey. A memorial mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Catholic Community in Middletown, MD at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 12th. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the mass, and a reception will follow at Holy Family. The Rev. Msgr. Robert J. Askot will be the celebrant. In lieu of flowers, donations in Henry's memory may be made to Holy Family Catholic Community, 7321 Burkittsville Rd., Middletown, MD 21769.
