Mrs. Helen Jeanette Proctor's Obituary
Helen Jeanette “Jeannie” Proctor, age 76 of Biglerville, PA, passed away peacefully on Thursday April 25,
2024. Born August 25, 1947, in Bethesda MD, she was the daughter of the late Joesph and Frances
Watkins Smock. She was the wife of 37 years to the love of her life, Robert Joesph Proctor.
Jeannie grew up with her loving parents and 2 siblings in Weaton, MD, graduating from Weaton High
School in 1965. She held a myriad of occupations over the years from working at the Food and Drug
Administration to the Atlantic Title Company where she was in the accounting department. She retired
from the Howard County School system after 15 years, where she held various roles within Stevens
Forest Elementary School’s administration.
Jeannie was forever devoted to her family and friends where everyone was always welcomed with a
warm smile and long hug. One of her favorite traditions was having as many family and friends over for
gatherings where she loved to cook her favorite southern recipes. She also enjoyed being a spectator at
her grandchildren’s various sporting events and just babysitting them every chance she had when they
were young. In addition, she loved spending time at Robert’s family farm in Ashland, PA and traveling,
making many road trips to Florida to see her parents, enjoy the beaches and visiting the various theme parks including Disney World.
Surviving in addition to her loving husband are two sons, Brian G. (wife Robin) and Brandon C. (wife
Bonnie) Mattox; five grandchildren, Avery, Natalie, Mallory, Evan and Jack; two siblings, Carol
McCampbell and Joesph (Joey) Smock. In addition, her step-children, grandchildren and great
grandchildren: JoAnne (husband Chuck) Bodine, Doug (wife Beth) Proctor, and Donna (husband Jim)
Parry; grandchildren: Allison, Andrew, and Alex Bodine; Matthew (and son Maverick), Meghan, Maxwell,
Marshall, and Mitchell Proctor; Aaran (and Zaydan) Jones, Jake, and Samantha Parry.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 2, 2024, from 11am to 12pm visitation and 12 to 1pm
memorial service at Resthaven Funeral Home, 9501 Catoctin Mountain Hwy., Frederick, MD 21701.
Private internment in Ashland, PA at a later date.
