Helen May Luck's Obituary
Helen May (Howard) Luck, 89, peacefully entered eternal rest on March 15, 2025, at Ridge Overlook Assisted Living in Taylorsville, MD.
Born October 25, 1935, in Rockville, MD, Helen embodied strength, love, and perseverance. She attended Richard Montgomery High School and was a homemaker, a caregiver to many family members, and daycare provider.
Helen loved children, music, dancing and car racing. She was a legend in the 60’s for her skills tearing down and rebuilding engines and then drag racing her husband’s two 57 Chevys. When her husband, Bob, was unable to race, Helen filled in and won, beating the male competitors and securing the car’s position in the National’s. She never lost a Powder Puff race, either.
Helen cherished spending time with her brother and several nieces and nephews at Linda and Johnny Croghan’s home and attending Sunday Funday at Morgan’s Inn, where she especially enjoyed music performed by The Soul Family Band.
Helen’s husband of 62 years, Robert C. Luck, Jr., six brothers, six sisters, and several nieces and nephews preceded her in death. She is survived by two daughters, Chris Luck and Karen (Luck) Delph (husband David); five grandchildren, Robbie Hudlow, Kim (Clauser) Fourcade (husband Vince), Kourtney (May) Dodson (husband Johnny), Ryan King, and Mallory (King) Ligsay (husband Eric), as well as well as five great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
A public viewing of Helen’s beloved family and friends will be Saturday, March 22 from 10am-11am. A service follows at 11am. A celebration of life will be held one week later on March 29 at the Circle D Farm, 15525 Carrs Mills Road, Woodbine, MD.
In lieu of flowers you may donate to the Alzheimers Association.
