Helen Foundas' Obituary
Our beloved mom, Helen Foundas, went to walk with the angels on September 19, 2023. Born June 21, 1938, in Geraki, Laconia Greece to George and Alexandra Maroudas, she was 85 years old. She married her longtime friend and love, Jimmy Foundas, in June of 1961. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband in 2015, and her siblings, Tasia Baxevanis, Sophia Michael, Nicholas Maroudas, and Polliyn Sharrer.
She is survived by her sister Maxine Lincoln; her children, John and Sarah, George and Georgia; and, Constantine (Dino) and Beth; her grandchildren, Alexa, Michael, Nick, Sophie, Christina, Brooke, Brylee, Nicole, Dimitrios, Kristen, Aidan, and Lucas; and, her great grandchildren, Bennett and Laura.
Mom, Yiayia, Yiayia Yiayia loved to love on people. Her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were the center of her life – the stars in her eyes. She is remembered for the phone calls just to say, “I love you,” guised as accidental calls or random questions. She marked life occasions by crafting simple messages with amateur drawings on notepads, gift bags, napkins, and masking tape. She shared her love of food and her unwavering faith.
She will be celebrated for all the heart she shared with friends and family. She genuinely loved each of them – and if you knew her, you knew it. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts. Never forget, “Count your blessings.”
A visitation and funeral service will be held Monday, September 25th at Saints Peter and Paul Greek Orthodox Church on 920 W. 7th St., Frederick, Maryland beginning at 11:30. Both will be followed by a burial service at Resthaven Memorial Gardens on 9501 Catoctin Mountain Hwy, Frederick, Maryland.
