Mrs. Helen Mae Lamp Carr, 85, of Frederick, MD passed away Sunday, August 3, 2014 at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the beloved wife of James "Jim" Carr for 62 years. Born on February 11, 1929 she was the daughter of the late Jerry Ray and Ada Fries Lamp of Winchester, VA. Helen retired from the Justice Department in 1998 after working for the Federal Government for more than 20 years as a Contract Specialist. She enjoyed spending her time with her children and grandchildren. In addition to her husband she is survived by her son Michael Carr and his wife Susan; her daughter, Debra Kopit and her husband Richard; her five grandchildren, Lisa Carr, Kevin Carr, Sara Carr, Nathan Kopit and Erin Kopit, all of Frederick, Maryland. She is also survived by one sister, Martha Lamp of Frederick, MD; two nephews; a niece; two great nephews and a great niece. She is preceded in death by her sister Douglas Stewart and her husband Jack of Silver Spring, MD. The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Thursday, August 7, 2014 from 6-8PM. A funeral service will be held at the Evangelical Lutheran Church, 35 E. Church St., Frederick on Friday, August 8 at 10AM. Pastor Robert Driver-Bishop will officiate. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
