Obituary
Mr. Harry E. Routzahn, Jr., age 82 of Frederick, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, August 28, 2016 . He was the husband of the late Margaret "Sue" (Fisher) Routzahn for 42 years. Born on July 12, 1934 in Frederick, he was the oldest of five children born to the late Harry & Dorothy Routzahn. Mr. Routzahn was a 1952 graduate of Frederick High School. He began his career in the molded styrofoam packaging industry at Corning as a line worker in the late 50s, and worked his way up to a Plant Manager position retiring in 2003 from Tuscarora Plastics in Sterling, VA. In the 1960s, Harry competed in semi-pro bowling on a local team representing Terrace Lanes. This gave him the opportunity to travel all over the country. In 1970-1972, he was very proud to have coached Frederick Midget Football taking the Vikings team to 2 straight undefeated seasons. He enjoyed horse racing often saying "I had that winner written down, but changed my mind". His most favorite thing to do was going to his cabin at White's Ferry Sportsman's Club where he enjoyed eating crabs with his lifelong friend JR. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and crabbing with his son. Most of all he was the "rock" for the whole family and loved and cared for all of them. Mr. Routzahn was the loving father of Harriet Routzahn Powell, Allan Kim Routzahn and Laurie Routzahn-Lynch and her husband Joseph Scott; the grandfather of (the late) Troy Thomas Moser, Kimberly Routzahn-Hannan, Anna Routzahn-Rossomondo and husband Billy, Destiny Rae Knesel, Raymond "Tommy" Knesel, and Joseph Lynch; the great-grandfather of Lucas Hannan, Kaylee Moser, and Natallie Lynch. He is also survived by his brother, Robert Melvin Routzahn. In addition to his wife, parents, and grandson, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Helen "Tootles" Routzahn, Elsie Droneburg and an infant sister, Valerie Routzahn.
