Gloria Mae Hunter's Obituary
Gloria Mae Hunter, age 96, passed away in Frederick, MD on January 21, 2023.
Born November 8, 1926, in Cabin John, MD, she was the daughter of John T. Sipes and Agnes Powell Sipes. Gloria met her late husband Walter Scott Hunter and they raised their family in Rockville, MD. After retiring from Montgomery County Public Schools as a school bus driver for 17 years, she moved to Frederick, MD.
Gloria is survived by two children: Walter Scott Hunter, Jr., and Wanda Sue Howard. Gloria was preceded in death by her son, Mark Stephen Hunter and grandson, Nicholas Alexander Hunter.
Known as “Gram” by all, she is survived by grandchildren: Wayne Howard, Jennifer Howard Davison, Troy Hunter, Kevin Hunter, Nathan Hunter, and Brandy Hunter Werner. Seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter were also proud to call her Gram.
Services will be held February 20, 2023, at 11 am in the chapel at Resthaven Funeral Home, 9501-B Catoctin Mountain Hwy., Frederick, MD 21701. Relatives and friends are welcome at the American Legion F. Scott Key Post 11, 1450 Taney Avenue, Frederick, MD 21701 following the service from 1:00 – 3:00 pm for an additional gathering.
