Mr. Gino Joseph Capotosto, 88, of Adamstown, passed away at home on April 14, 2017. His beloved wife, Dorothy, passed away in 2009 after 57 years of marriage.Born in Gallitzin, PA, he was the son of the late Angelo and Beatrice Capotosto. He graduated from Gallitzin High School in 1947 and enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served as an artilleryman in the 49th Forward Artillery Bn. / 7th Infantry Div. in Korea, and subsequently served in the Army Reserves. After leaving active duty in 1952, he married Dorothy on Nov. 20th of that year. They lived in Washington, DC for several years before moving to Rockville, where they raised their family and lived for over four decades, until moving to Adamstown in 1999. Mr. Capotosto worked as a purchasing manager for PEPCO (concurrently with a retail job he worked at night), retiring after 38 years at the power utility. An extremely patriotic man, he was active in the Rockville American Legion, Post 86, where he eventually served as Post Commander. He loved his cats, Marita, Mars, and Toby, and he loved to cook. He was renowned for his signature homemade spaghetti sauce and homemade pasta.Mr. Capotosto is survived by five daughters, Diane, Gina, Carol, Anita and Bettina; two sisters, Mary and Betty; two brothers, Fred and Bill; eleven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, his beloved cat, Toby; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and other relatives. Visitation will take place from 11:00 AM - 12:00 Noon on Friday, April 21st at the Chapel Mausoleum of Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 9501 U.S. Route 15 N in Frederick. A funeral service will begin at 12:00 Noon, followed by entombment with military honors. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org) or to the Animal Welfare League of Frederick (www.awlfc.org).
