George Yonge's Obituary
George Yonge (38) passed away on November 4, 2025, in Winchester, VA, due to severe complications from bacterial meningitis. He was born in Nairobi, Kenya, to Maurice Yonge and Margaret Maraga.
George lived a life marked by compassion, dedication, and joy. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Management from Makerere University and later graduated from Frederick Community College with an Associate of Applied Science in Respiratory Therapy, receiving the Director’s Award.
George served as a respiratory therapist at Frederick Health Hospital, where he was known for his warmth and friendliness—always greeting colleagues and patients alike with a smile and a kind word. A passionate supporter of Arsenal Football Club, George never missed a match and proudly celebrated the team’s success, especially their top-of-the-table standing this season.
Above all, George was a devoted husband to Sharon Miranda Yonge and a proud, loving father to his daughter, Maggie Wata Yonge, who was the light of his life. His unwavering commitment to his family was evident in everything he did.
George is survived by his wife and daughter; siblings, Lawrence Yonge, Monica Yonge Geh, Norega Saa, Silvia Yonge, Linda Yonge, and Alex Nandwa; nephews, Ferry Odero, Zane Kah, Jeremy Oduro, Jacob, and Noah; and nieces, Elise and Patience. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 12 PM at The Center Church, 5115 Pegasus Ct Suite A, Frederick, MD 21704. The funeral service will begin at 12:30 PM, with burial to follow immediately at Resthaven Memorial Gardens at 2:30PM. The Celebration of life will be held from 4pm-9pm at the Frederick Health Village , 1 Frederick Health Way, Frederick, MD 21701.
