George Lavergne Williamson, son of the late Charles and Adella Williamson, passed away peacefully with his family by his side while in the care of Hospice of Frederick County on Friday, October 26, 2018 at the age of 94 years. George will be immensely missed and forever remembered by his wife of 52 years, Ann, and his children, Theodore "Ted" (Norene), Debbie (Bruce), Judy (George), Paul (Nancy), Laura, Charles "Butch", and Carol (Dennis). He will also be missed by his 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, Heather, Stephen, Angela, Bradley, Jennifer, Ian, Elizabeth, Charles, Jason, and Lillianna. His sister, Jane (Ralph), and his brother, Dave. George was predeceased by his son Bobby Lee as well as his Father and Mother-in-law, William "Bill" and Lucy. George served in the Army Air Force during World War II at a very young age, and after an honorable discharge, he attended the University of South Dakota. His professional life included work for General Electric, Wallops Flight Facility, Control Data Corporation, and lastly for N.A.S.A. at the Goddard Space Flight Center- until he retired at the age of 70 in 1994. George loved working with his hands; his passions including building/working with electronics, automobiles, and especially woodworking and craftsmanship. George was a consummate man of Science and discovery as well as a man of "Eclectic-Faith." He thoroughly enjoyed photography, all kinds of music (he even sang in the choir for his Church), and spending time with his family. A private Celebration of George Williamson's life will be held for his family and friends. Memorial donations in memory of George can be made to American Diabetes Research at www.diabetes.org.
