Mr. George Frederick Wehr, 91, of Frederick, passed away on January 7, 2017 at Northampton Manor in Frederick. He was the husband of the late Nina J. Wehr, who passed in 2010.Born in Baltimore, George was the son of the late Jerome Wehr and the late Ernestine Kaiss Belmont. Mr. Wehr was a veteran of World War II, having enlisted before he was 18 with his mother's permission. PFC Wehr landed at Normandy and fought his way over the Rhine with 2nd Signal Company, 2nd Infantry Division. In the Signal Corps, he learned his trade and eventually became a Master Electrician. Mr. Wehr held many supervisory positions and at one time owned his own electrical business. He was a longtime active member of the Sandy Spring Lions Club and held many offices there, and was a member of the American Legion FSK Post 11 in Frederick. Mr. Wehr is survived by a son, John Cole, and daughters Elizabeth Gilley, Cathy Bonner, and Sharon Johnson; a cousin, Jeanie Lazerov; and several grandchildren. In addition to his loving wife, Mr. Wehr was preceded in death by a son, Robert Wehr.A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 15th at 3:00 PM at the Chapel Mausoleum of Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 9501 U.S. Route 15 N in Frederick. The Rev. Dana Werts of Brook Hill United Methodist Church will officiate. Inurnment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sandy Spring Lions Club, P.O.
