George Harris Madara, 88, of Frederick, passed away peacefully at home after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of the late Clara Madara, who passed March 2, 2010. Born in Shamokin, PA, he was the son of the late George and Mabel Madara. He was a veteran of World War II, honorably discharged as a sole surviving son. He attended college on the G.I Bill and worked as an accountant for A & P Grocery. George enjoyed game shows like Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, scratch-off lottery tickets, and decorating the house for Christmas.He is survived by three children, Patricia Madara, Robert Madara, and David Madara; his adopted daughter, Norma Davis; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; two godchildren, Kai and Adia; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and other relatives. In addition to his loving wife and his siblings, he was preceded in death by a son, George J. Madara.Visitation will be held from 6 - 8 PM on Friday, August 7th at the Chapel Mausoleum of Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 9501 Catoctin Mountain Hwy., Frederick, and from 10 - 11 AM on Saturday, August 8th at St. Joseph-on-Carrollton Manor Roman Catholic Church, 5843 Manor Woods Rd., near Buckeystown, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM. The Rev. Lawrence K. Frazier will be the celebrant. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Frederick County, P.O. Box 1799, Frederick, MD 21702 or to St. Joseph's at P.O.
