Mr. George Lawrence Anzelone, Sr., 87, of Waynesboro, PA and formerly of Thurmont, MD, passed away on August 27, 2018 due to health complications. He was the fiancAC. of Kay Ensor, of Waynesboro, PA. Born February 22, 1931 in Flushing, Queens, New York, George was the son of the late Michael J. and Rose Anzelone. George was a self-taught baker, and he worked at several grocery stores in Frederick and Carroll Counties, including a decade with Weis Markets. He was a Past President of the Thurmont Senior Center, where he was active for many years. He enjoyed baking and decorating cakes for family, friends and special occasions. In addition to his fiancAC., Mr. Anzelone is survived by five children, George L. Anzelone, Jr. of Fly Creek, NY, Christine A. Mech & husband Leonard of Thurmont, Anthony W. Anzelone of Thurmont, Carmela Anzelone-Shepard of Punta Gorda, FL, and Eleanor C. Anzelone of Hartwick, NY; a brother, Charles Anzelone & wife Kay of Flushing, NY; a grandson, Michael Anzelone; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his late wife, Joanne C. Anzelone, in 1998, and by seven siblings: Joey, Millie, Tootsie, Libby, Anna, Louie, and Mike. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 30th from 6 - 8 PM in the Chapel Mausoleum of Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 9501 U.S. Route 15 N in Frederick. A graveside service will take place at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 31st in the Garden of St. John at Resthaven. Floral tributes are welcome.
