Gale Mary Klupt, died at her home surrounded by family on August 24 after valiantly battling multiple health issues over the years. She was 75. She was born August 11, 1940 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Jack and Florence Parman. She graduated from Manheim Township High School in Neffsville, PA in 1958. She started working in hospitals as a nurse's aide at age 16, and went on to graduate with honors from the Thomas Jefferson University School of Nursing in Philadelphia in 1961, launching her career as a Registered Nurse. She married Dr. Eugene L. Klupt in 1963, whom she met in New York City, where she was working as a nurse at the Orentreich Medical Group. They moved to Frederick in 1966, and after the birth of her children, she worked at her husband's dental practice as manager and bookkeeper. An active member of Beth Sholom Congregation and its sisterhood, she served as Treasurer for the National Council of Jewish Women and was one of the founding women of Shoresh Day Camp. She also served as a board member of the Tuberculosis Association. A licensed pilot, she was a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. She enjoyed decades of travel with her husband, and was an adept knitter and painter. An avid reader, she devoured books. Her favorite room in the house was the kitchen, where she loved cooking for her family, always willing to try out a new recipe. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons and daughter-in-laws, Mark Klupt and Caitlin Herlihy of Falls Church, VA, and Evan Klupt and Dr. Amy Bass of New Rochelle, NY; grandchildren Hannah, Jack, Benjamin, and Lillian; her sister, Marjorie Dubertsein; and her niece, Jennifer Duberstein. Burial will be a private graveside service. Friends are invited to visit with the family beginning at 7pm at Beth Sholom Congregation at 1011 N. Market Street in Frederick on Wednesday, August 26 and Thursday, August 27 each night, and a short prayer service will take place at 7:30pm, with visiting afterwards.
