Frederick Lee Hanvey Sr's Obituary
Frederick L. Hanvey Sr. passed away on June 9th, 2023, at Frederick Hospital in Frederick, Maryland. He was born on December 17, 1949, in Loudoun County, Virginia. Frederick was a retired master carpenter and served in the Marines during the Vietnam War.
Frederick is preceded in death by his father, Oliver F. Hanvey, and his mother, Catherine L. Frye-Hanvey, his sister Thelma Hanvey-Lowery, and her husband Richard T. Lowery, his brother, Oliver F. Hanvey. Jr., as well as his great-grandson, Trevor Wise Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Hilda M. Angleberger-Hanvey.
Frederick is lovingly remembered by his sister Catherine Hanvey-Pugh and her husband Clifton Pugh of Lyndhurst, Virginia.
He is also survived by his daughter, Carol A. Hanvey-Divel, and her husband Richard of Union Bridge, Maryland. His sons include Randy L. Williams and his special friend Pam of Cascade, Maryland, Kevin L. Hanvey and his wife Michelle of Emmitsburg, Maryland, Frederick L. Hanvey Jr. and his wife Tonya of Emmitsburg, Maryland, James A. Hanvey and his wife Kimberly of Biglerville, Pennsylvania, Larry E. Hanvey and his wife Catherine of Sabillasville, Maryland, Michael P. Hanvey and his wife Mary of Rouzerville, Pennsylvania, and Robert L. Hanvey and his fiancée Judy of Falling Waters, West Virginia.
Frederick will be fondly remembered by his 21 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He had a passion for fishing, family card games, and enjoyed spending time with his loved ones during family gatherings and visits.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Morning Star Family Church on Albert Staub Rd. in Thurmont, Maryland, on Friday, June 16, 2023, at 1 pm. Pastor Donna Sandridge will be officiating the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Veterans Association or the Wounded Warriors organization, as well as the Alzheimer's Association.
Frederick L. Hanvey Sr. will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. His legacy of love, dedication, and joyous family moments will live on in their hearts.
