Mr. Franklin Leroy Valentine, Sr., 92, of Williamsport, MD passed away Monday, December 7, 2015 at the Williamsport Nursing Home. He was the beloved husband of Sarah Margaret Stouter Valentine for 73 years. Born January 26, 1923 in Fairfield, PA he was the son of the late William Paul and Violet Wetzel Valentine.Franklin was a longtime member of Toms Creek United Methodist Church. He retired from the Department of Energy. He was also a member of NARFE. Franklin also enjoyed hunting when he was younger and traveling with his wife, Sarah. Most of all Franklin was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed. In addition to his wife he is survived by his children Judith Margaret Phillips and husband Fred of Williamsport and Franklin Leroy Valentine, Jr. and wife Genny of Thurmont; grandchildren Terry Lee Phillips, Sr. and David Valentine; eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother James Paul Valentine; two sisters sisters Pauline Sharrer and Elva O'Brien, sister-in-law Helen Valentine and grandson Fred E. Phillips, Jr. The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main St., Thurmont on Thursday, December 10, 2015 from 2-4PM and 6-8PM where a funeral service will be held on Friday, December 11 at 11AM at the Toms Creek United Methodist Church, 10926 Simmons Rd., Emmitsburg. Rev. Heath Wilson will officiate. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Toms Creek United Methodist Church at the said above address.
